Domestic
violence is a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain
or maintain power and control over an intimate partner.
Some abusive behaviors include those that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate,hurt, humiliate, blame, injure or wound someone. Domestic violence destroys relationships and families and passes from generation to generation.
Dating violence is a pattern of controlling behaviors that one partner uses to get power over the other and includes:
- Any kind of physical/threat of physical violence to get control
- Emotional/mental abuse (mind games, constantly criticizing, etc.)
- Sexual abuse (making you feel bad about yourself sexually, making you do things you do not want to, etc.)
